Spay/Neuter Program 

The Animal Welfare League of Wayne County offers spay and neuter financial assistance for those with a true financial need and who would otherwise be unable to have their pet spayed or neutered.   Please review the guidelines below and complete the application if you meet these guidelines.  The application is located below.

SPAY & NEUTER VOUCHER APPLICATION GUIDELINES

 

The Animal Welfare League of Wayne County (AWL) offers up to $200 in financial assistance for those with a financial need and who would otherwise be unable to have their pet spayed or neutered.  Please carefully review the guidelines below and complete the application if you meet these guidelines.

Applicants must:

 

  1.  Reside in Wayne County, North Carolina.

  2. Apply for only one voucher within a six-month period.

  3. Understand that assistance is valid only for the owner and pet listed on the application.

  4. Understand this program is for family pets, not feral dogs or cats.

  5. Have a combined household net (take-home) income of $60,000 or less annually. 

  6. Agree to assume responsibility for all veterinary costs associated with the spay and neuter surgery that exceed the $200 voucher provided by AWL.

  7. Once approved, schedule an appointment for the spay or neuter surgery at one of the veterinary practices listed below.  The surgery must be completed by the expiration date listed on the voucher; typically, within 3 months of receipt of voucher. Note: Call to schedule your appointment as soon as possible to enable surgery within three months and to receive an estimate of total cost. This will help you determine your financial responsibility for the procedure.   

  8. Bring voucher to the veterinary appointment.

  9. Understand that some vets require an appointment prior to scheduling  the spay or neuter surgery. The voucher does not cover presurgical appointments.

 

AWL will:

 

  1. Notify applicant by email within 14 days of receiving the application whether they have been approved for financial assistance.

  2. Mail approved applicant a voucher to be used at participating vets.  The maximum value of the voucher is $200. 

  3. Pay the veterinary practice a maximum of $200 upon completion of the spay or neuter surgery and receipt of invoice.  The applicant is responsible for any veterinary costs exceeding $200.

The Animal Welfare League of Wayne County (AWL) is a non-profit, volunteer based organization in Wayne County, North Carolina. As limited funds are available, all assistance is done at the sole discretion and approval of the AWL Board of Directors. AWL reserves the right to refuse any request for assistance to any individual for any reason.


I understand this document is a request for assistance. Completion and submission of this document does not constitute a promise of assistance by AWL. I understand that, if approved, any balances owed beyond what AWL approves to contribute is and shall be my responsibility. I understand that, if approved, assistance provided does not in any way constitute any type of responsibility or obligation by AWL to or for my pet.


I attest that all the information is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand and acknowledge that by completing and submitting this this application I grant permission for AWL and its representatives to verify any information given. It is further understood that willful omission or falsification of information may be grounds for disqualification of this and future requests for assistance.


The screening process may take up to 14 days to complete.
