AWL offers support to local animal welfare groups through grants and fostering a sense of community togetherness through outreach and education initiatives. We work in close collaboration with animal shelters and rescues to create a safer and happier world for our beloved animals.

Our Partners

AWL partners with local rescue groups like Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue, formally, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2007. Informally, a local group of volunteer dog lovers that rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs.

Ongoing Event – Pet Food Pantry

The Animal Welfare League of Wayne County partners with the Wayne County Pet Food Pantry to collect and distribute pet food to local pet owners needing assistance. Our goal is to help people keep their pets even in times of financial difficulty.

Individuals may apply on the first Saturday of the month from 10 am - 12 pm at :

 

Wayne County Animal Services

1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534 

Individuals must bring proof of Wayne County residency and documentation of need such as tax return, enrollment in Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) or  Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).  Extenuating Circumstances such as job loss are always taken into consideration. Compassionate volunteers are available to help you complete the application process. Once approved individuals will be eligible to receive assistance monthly for the next 12 months before reapplying.

On the third Sunday of every month, pet food is distributed to individuals who have been approved for assistance.
